The Song of Songs - Shir Hashirim

The Song of Songs is a splendid and lyrical love poem. The original of this scroll was written by a scribe on high quality parchment. The dimensions of the print are identical to the original scroll. The illumination is in the style of the Lisbon manuscript workshop, which flourished during the fifteenth century, and culminated in a workshop which produced the famous Lisbon Bible and many other illuminated manuscripts currently in the colections of major museums in London, Paris, and New York. In keeping with this tradition, micrography, or miniature decorative writing, is also used. The entire text of the Song of Songs is written in micrographic script in brown ink in the surrounding margins and within the illuminations, which are all based on the Star of David. In addition, selected verses, written in larger, colored letters, appear as a framework to the columns of text. The text is surrounded by a pattern of intertwined floral illumination. The scroll is also sold unframed, in a red gift box with the artist's logo. Edition limited to 250 copies. Giclee printing with gold applied by hand.
