Shir Hashirim - Jerusalem view
The Song of Songs is a splendid and lyrical love poem. According to Jewish tradition, it represents an allegorical paean to the love between the people of Israel and their Creator. The original scroll was written by the scribe Avital Goldner on high quality parchment. The dimensions of the print are identical to the original scroll.
The illumination of the scroll suggests a landscape with the walled city of Jerusalem, depicted as viewed by the settlers around it, in old days, maybe at the time of King Solomon.
The settlers grow trees, bearing the fruits of Shir Hashirim, such as pomegranates, figs, olives, palm trees, vines and apples; women and children are harvesting the fruit; a shepherd watches his sheep; a man and his wife stand under the crawling vine in their home patio, in an atmosphere of peace and serenity.
Selected verses, written in colored letters, border the columns of text and surround the landscape.
