Ketubahs
A Ketubah is a marriage contract traditionally protecting the married woman's rights and property throughout her marriage. It is actually a form of a prenuptial agreement, illustrating our ancestors' high regard and deep care for women.
Many versions of traditional Ketubah texts are used, while more and more are being composed by couples on the eve of their wedding, adding their personal covenant to the old format.
In origin, the Ketubah was a hand written agreement, signed by the groom, his witnesses and the Rabbi; then presented to the bride and kept in her mother's home.
The development of embellished Ketubahs began centuries ago in many Jewish congregations all over the world. Unique Jewish Ketubahs from diverse sources are displayed in museums and printed in albums - but your own unique Jewish art Ketubah can be custom made for you to hang in your home, reminding you eternally of the loving promises of your wedding day.
